Privacy Policy
Offline AI Chat ("we", "us", or "our") provides a local-first AI chat application designed to keep your conversations on your device as much as possible. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the app.
1. Local-First Processing & Optional Cloud Models
By default, Offline AI Chat is built so that AI inference, prompts, and responses are processed directly on your device. When using local models, we do not send your chat prompts or model responses to our own servers or any third-party AI providers. If you choose to enable optional Cloud Models, your prompts and files are sent securely to third-party AI providers (via OpenRouter) solely for generating responses. You have full control over this toggle in Settings.
2. Information We Use
The app may process the following types of information:
- Google account information if you choose Google Sign-In for authentication.
- Anonymous authentication data if you continue as a guest.
- Chat content and message history stored locally on your device.
- Files or images you choose to attach for use inside the app.
- Downloaded AI model files stored locally on your device.
3. How Data Is Stored
- Chat history is stored locally on your device database.
- Preferences and app state is stored locally on your device.
- Model files are downloaded to and kept on your device storage.
4. Authentication
If you sign in with Google, authentication is handled through Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In. We use this only to authenticate your account and support account access. Please also review Google's privacy documentation for how Google and Firebase handle authentication-related information.
5. What We Do Not Sell or Share
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your private chat content for advertising. Under standard local-first operation, we do not transmit your prompts or AI responses to third-party AI providers. If you choose to enable cloud models, your chat prompts and attachments are only shared with the selected third-party cloud model provider (via OpenRouter) strictly to generate responses, and are never sold or used for other purposes.
6. Account Deletion
You can request account deletion from within the app. When account deletion is completed, the app is intended to delete your authenticated account and clear local chat data stored on the device.

7. Third-Party Services
The app may rely on third-party services such as Google Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In to support login functionality. Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies.
8. Children's Privacy
Offline AI Chat is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page.
